Are you ready to feel excited about working on your health?

Are you ready to step into that optimal version of you, that's symptom free, and feels good in their body?

Struggling or living with a health issue, concern, or condition is draining and has a major affect on our quality of life.

If your current approach or treatment isn't working and you're ready to embrace a new approach to healing, then its definitely time to consider Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy.

We tend to look for complex explanations for our health issues and neglect potential simple and obvious causes.  Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy starts with repairing the foundations of health using the healing power of food, water, light, and movement, so that body has the capacity to heal itself once obstacles to recovery are removed.

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy takes a holistic approach to restoring health using therapies that support the whole person, not just the symptoms, because the whole body is involved in the healing process.  A holistic approach supports the self-healing process through diet and lifestyle changes that get the body working properly again rather than medicating symptoms.  It also assesses the movement and progression of disease helping to identify and treat the root cause of illness.

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy can help with most health concerns as a primary approach, but it can also work alongside and support conventional medical treatment.

Investing in your health isn't a nice to have, its essential.

If you could look into a crystal ball and see your future self, you would want to see a happyhealthy, energetic, and resilient person fully engaged in life interacting physically and mentally with friends and family.

Through detailed case taking, Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy seeks to explain how you have arrived at your present symptoms, and provide you with a structured plan for restoring health, straightforward advice and guidance for maintaining health, and the knowledge you need for protecting your future health.  Understanding why you have your symptoms and having a plan for addressing them immediately reduces anxiety because it takes away the fear and puts you back in control of the situation.  Working with me removes the confusion caused by flip-flopping between the latest food fads and diets or from following the latest 'expert' advice that changes from one day to the next.

The principles of Naturopathic Nutrition are reassuringly consistent, simple, and clear.

As you move through the stages of re-establishing your health foundation, or healing and recovering from dis-ease, anxiety reduces, energy levels increase, we feel more positive, optimistic, and capable because once the body is able to clean and nourish itself, everything within the body begins to flow and our life force regains its resiliency, strength, vibrancy, and energy.

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy is life changing if you are willing to do the work.

Achieving a health goal or getting on top of a health issue after many weeks, months, or even years of suffering is life changing.  â€‹Nutritional Therapy will provide you with a staged approach towards healing the body that begins with gently opening up and facilitating the body's ability to cleanse and rid itself of toxicity because a clogged and stagnated system is unable to heal itself.  Jumping straight in and changing too many things at once before the bowels are working properly for example will simply exacerbate symptoms and cause discomfort.

Once there is movement and flow within the body, the body can begin to heal itself.

Healing is like peeling back layers of an onion, each positive change facilitates the removal of another layer of toxic burden and moves the body closer to better functioning and optimal health.  Depending on your symptoms, energy and vitality, it may be necessary to work more slowly and gently to re-establish the optimal foundation for healing before applying to many changes because it is important to work at the level the body can manage at the current time.

Symptoms are signals that the body is struggling to maintain health with the resources it has.

When our body is not in good working order, it is in a state of dis-ease, and it lets us know this in the form of symptoms.

Symptoms are important messages.  Symptoms are signals that the body is struggling to maintain our health with the resources it has. The body never works against us, it will always do the best it can with what it has and just like any other efficient system, if vital resources such as nutrients, water, light, and oxygen are in short supply, it prioritises the most important organs and systems at the expense of lesser organs and systems.

When one system or organ is suffering, it affects the performance of the whole body which is why Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy takes a holistic approach, considering the entire person when looking for the root cause of dis-ease.

"After having my consultation with Lorraine, it opened my eyes to how I could be helping myself to cure my health issues, particularly my IBS and cluster headache symptoms, just by changing a few things with my diet and exercise.  I found Lorraine to be very informative, for example, I didn't know that the alopecia I had suffered from in the past was connected to my stress and IBS at that time.  Lorraine certainly did her research to work out a plan that could benefit me".

The body is extremely efficient at preserving vital nutrients and making compensations to keep us functioning, so it can take weeks, months or even years for a problem or symptoms to appear.

If we ignore symptoms or suppress them with drugs, the opportunity for healing is missed and the dis-ease process deepens within the body manifesting in the form of worsening or new symptoms. Naturopathic nutrition seeks to uncover and support the root cause of discomfort rather than just medicating or supressing symptoms.  Only by peeling back the layers can we start to uncover the root cause of ill health.  Many people find that by changing their diet and lifestyle, other health concerns diminish as the whole body begins to work more effectively.

Nutritional Therapy isn't just about what we eat and drink.

We have all heard of the phrase 'you are what you eat', and that's because what we eat is used by the body to make us, to create new cells that are used to make and repair tissues and organs.  If we eat rubbish, we deprive the body of the ingredients needed to make healthy cells, tissues, and organs that function properly.

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy isn't just about what we eat and drink.  Naturopathic Nutritional therapy also looks at an individual’s inherited factors, environment, lifestyle, attitudes, psychological and emotional states, and past and present stress, when assessing overall health and the most appropriate programme for healing.

Chronic stress is a major cause of health issues and chronic disease because it stops the systems within the body from working properly.  You could be eating a well-balanced diet, but if you live life in a perpetual state of stress, you are undoing all that good work.  The hormonal and digestive systems are especially sensitive to stress, so if these systems are not working properly, neither are the immune or reproductive systems.

Chronic stress is a major digestive and hormonal disrupter.

It is well understood that stress affects our mental and physical health and wellbeing.

We think of stress as negative, but a small amount of stress can sharpen our performance and focus when we have a task that requires completing, an exam to sit, or a presentation to deliver. Our fight or flight stress response is activated if we are in danger so that we can escape, therefore this type of stress is an important evolutionary reaction necessary for survival.  The debilitating type of stress is the sort that doesn’t go away or subside, examples include relationship difficulties, financial worries, a demanding job, shift working, and having multiple demanding responsibilities.

Chronic stress exhausts the adrenal glands through the unrelenting demand for cortisol until eventually they fail to make enough disrupting the entire hormonal system.  Our body prioritises the production of cortisol above production of the sex hormones which is why we see menstrual and fertility disturbances during times of stress.  Stress also suppresses the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for regulating the digestive, immune, urinary and reproductive functions because these systems are not considered important when the body is in survival mode.  As a result, digestion slows down causing painbloating, constipation, bacterial overgrowth, and intestinal permeability which then impacts the immune system.

“The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well”, Hippocrates.

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy and Nutritional Medicine can help with many common complaints, many with their roots in poor digestive health or hormonal instability, including:

Digestive problems incl IBS, pain, bloating, wind.

Blood sugar irregularities.

Food sensitivities, intolerances, and allergies.

Low energy, low mood, fatigue, and chronic fatigue.

Skin issues and diseases.

Poor immunity and autoimmunity.

Stress related conditions.

Headaches and migraines.

Anxiety and depression.

Circulation and joint problems.

Hormonal problems incl. PMT, Fertility, Menopause.

Feeling unwell with no known or obvious cause.

Weight loss / gain.

Maintaining and protecting health.

The best part is that changes do not have to be big to start yielding results.

A few small, gradual, and consistent changes are more beneficial to sustained healing than a sudden overhaul that proves impractical, unsustainable, demotivating and just makes symptoms worse.  Healing requires time, patience, determination, and dedication, but the rewards are significant, life changing, empowering, and enduring.  A good practitioner listens to what you can accommodate mentally and physically and supports you on your journey back to where you want to be.

Nutritional Medicine is based on the principle that nutrients from whole, organic, unprocessed, and non-GM food are required for the proper functioning of all the biochemical processes upon which our body depends.

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy uses nutritional medicine alongside other natural therapies to rebalance the body’s biochemical processes, systems, and organs, and remove stagnation so that the body can heal itself.

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy also considers lifestyle and environmental factors that could impede the healing process.

Muscle Response Testing is a non-invasive and pain-free diagnostic biofeedback tool that uses the body's nervous system to uncover hidden problems such as allergies, food intolerances, sensitivities, heavy metal toxicity, nutrient deficiencies, and other imbalances.

Muscle Response Testing can establish the best therapy to help the body's healing processes or the remedy for the highest good which is particularly useful when many options present as beneficial.

Genetic testing looks in detail at our DNA, the chemical ‘instructions’ in every body cell.

This biological code tells the body how to do everything, including how well we absorb and use specific nutrients like vitamins, affecting our nutrient needs.

Nutrigenomics looks at how nutrition and lifestyle factors impact our genetic potential. It gives us an understanding of how our life choices (nurture) interact with our genes (nature) so that we can make positive changes that align with our genetics and optimise our health and well-being.

Yoga outside in nature

Yoga is recognised as a form of mind-body medicine that integrates an individual's physical, mental and spiritual components to improve aspects of health, particularly stress related illnesses. Yoga works exceptionally well alongside nutritional Medicine, helping to reduce stress within the body and develop the inner strength and resilience we need to cope with life.
