About

Lorraine Oakley

BSc (Hons), NT.Dip, Associate Naturopath, Yoga Teacher

I'm passionate about the healing power of food and living in accordance with our natural rhythms.  I am a registered Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist and Associate Naturopath with a special interest in Digestive and Hormonal health based in Hertford, Hertfordshire, UK.

I offer face to face consultations in my clinic in Hertford as well as remotely with clients based further afield.  I also regularly teach yoga to beginners and intermediate students.

In my twenties and thirties, I suffered from IBS, headaches and eczema never realising they were all symptoms of the same dis-ease.  It wasn’t until I began training for my first marathon in my 30’s that I noticed the relationship between what I ate, how much I slept, and how hard those long training runs felt.  By changing my diet and prioritising sleep, I noticed my energy levels were significantly higher despite all the training.  My headaches were much less frequent, my IBS was significantly better, and the patches of eczema hadn’t reappeared for several months.  I had experienced the healing effect of an improved diet and lifestyle and wanted to understand how and why, which led me to study Nutritional Medicine.

Alongside nutrition I also enjoy teaching Vinyasa yoga to beginners and intermediate level students.  I discovered yoga when I sought ways to stretch and loosen stiff and tight muscles alongside running.  After trying a few styles of yoga I realised I enjoyed the dynamic nature of Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga and the feeling of accomplishment that came from progressing in the postures.  As my physical practice progressed I began resonating more with the mental and spiritual side of yoga noticing how at ease and calm I felt after classes and how positive and optimistic I felt about any challenges I was experiencing at the time.  When the opportunity to train as a Yoga teacher arose, I jumped at the chance to learn about this ancient practice and how to share it with others.

I firmly believe in practising what I preach outside of my professional life.  I find joy in staying active through yoga, triathlons, and marathons. Nature is my sanctuary, and I love open-water swimming, hiking, and walking.  I am an avid organic kitchen gardener, an advocate of organic food and foraging, and a strong proponent of cold water therapy. These activities not only keep me physically fit but also fuel my passion for holistic health and wellness.

Your health journey is unique, and I am committed to supporting you every step of the way.  I welcome the opportunity to guide you back to health and wellness.
